2.5 billion Internet banking transactions have reported in March
2003, which transactions have taken 9.4% growth compare to the
December 2002. Digital certificates are lively distributed among
people to allowing Internet banking.
Many people are doing account transfer, make payment, and other
banking works at home via Internet access.
Large number of financial transaction is taken in real-time
basis for online stock trading and it has to accurately acknowledge
transaction details between transaction correspondents (e.g.
amount of money, personal information), and transaction data
must be protected at the same time.
Also as the wireless Internet is becoming popular, Internet
banking and other electronic commerce are become available on
mobile phones, PDA and other mobiles access devices.
Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute has
recently announced the plan to introducing Internet banking
service the 'UBI(Ubiquitous Banking Interface)' on mobile telecommunication
environment.
The 'UBI' indicates meanings that 'it is possible to make financial
operations from your free location.' Any financial operations
engaged in banking service will be participated in this 'UBI'
If mobile device users are first accessing the wireless Internet
banking service, 'UBI' application has to be downloaded. Once
'UBI' application is downloaded, mobile device users will now
be able to enjoy various mCommerce services (Internet banking,
online shopping). WPKI(Wireless PKI) will be deployed to provide
security for 'UBI' services.
